This is one of my favorite cookbooks. The quiche recipe and the oven baked chicken are two that I use on a regular basis. My kids think the baked chicken puts KFC to shame, and I have to say, I agree. I've used 30-40 recipes from this book and each one, (adjusting seasonings to suit our specific tastes) have been fantastic!This copy was purchased to replace a regular binding. I really prefer the 3-ring binder version of cookbooks that I use on a regular basis. They lay open flat on the counter, preventing me from having to touch pages, or worse, read directions/ingredients at a weird angle.
This book is the one I use over and over again, I've made so many recipes from it. These recipes do not taste like "diet" food. Although they are low in fat, calories, and food points, they really taste good too. Some favorites I make regularly from this book are the Parmesan-Turkey Meatloaf, Shrimp Creole, Tuna-Noodle Casserole, Chicken Avgolemono Soup, Indian Carrot Soup, Hummus, and our absolute favorite - the Chicken Quesadillas with Corn-Tomato Salad. I brought the Rolled Orange Sponge Cake to a family gathering and everyone devoured it - no one would have guessed it only had 2 grams of fat per serving.I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a great all-around sourcebook for all kinds of healthy low-fat recipes that taste great and fit into a Weight Watchers plan or even anyone who is just looking for good, nutritious meals. The book is well laid out and has an excellent variety of reliable recipes. It's easy to read and browse through, has an adequate amount of photos, and contains all the nutrition information and points for each recipe.
I am now a Lifetime Member of Weight Watchers having lost more than 40 pounds and I can say that these recipes definitely help to lose weight. I own this cookbook as well as 3 of the slim WW cookbooks, and they provide the basis for many of the meals I prepare.There is a great deal of variety in the recipes, but often times they don't add enough seasonings. This is not a big deal if you know what types of spices to add, because those are usually are 0-points so you get the basis for how to do a low-fat, low-cal dish and you just flavor it the way you want.My favorite recipe out of all of the WW cookbooks is found here: the linguine alfredo. I love alfredo sauces but rarely eat them because of the fat but this recipe is only 5 points (a cup of pasta plain is 4 points) and tastes delicious (and I have my 2 roommates who are not on WW to attest to this). I lost this recipe for awhile, however, because the index needs improvement. It's not listed under alfredo, and since I had mistakenly been thinking it was fettucine alfredo I had a hard time finding it. But I finally found it, and it tastes great. The tandoori haddock is excellent, and the black bean soup recipe is very innovative (it just calls for too much water, put 1/2 to 3/4 less water than it says).The dessert section has some interesting recipes, but many of them are fruit based. There are only about 2 or 3 that have chocolate in them.Overall this cookbook is a good buy. It has tons of recipes and helps spark your own creativity to develop dishes more suited to your palate.
I love the recipes in this cookbook. They don't taste "diet." A few of my favorites include Faux Gumbo (page 82), Dolmades (page 38) and Cucumbers with Dilled Buttermilk Dressing (page 304). I'm not dieting, but like to pare down some calories and this gives me some great dinner ideas.The gumbo has surprised many people I have made it for. I always get asked for the recipe. They are always surprised when I tell them it is a Weight Watchers recipe.
This is probably one of the best Weight Watchers cookbooks I have ever bought. There are so many wonderful tasting meals in here. My husband hates when I get new cookbooks because he is always having to try out new foods. So far he has not complained about any meal I have made out of this cookbook. That says more than I could ever think to write. It is great and I love the spiral, you can lay the book flat this way.
this is a great recipe book - AND it's all weight watchers recipes! this book has a binder ring, so the book will lie flat no matter which recipe you want displayed. I wish all book come like this. beautiful picture of recipes, but not all of them. and a nice index to find things quickly.
Seems to be a good cookbook. I haven't really had the time to sit down and go thru the whole book so I can't really give it a comprehensive review
I love the recipes but am not loving the damaged binder. The recipes are in tack but there are two rings that will not close because they are damaged. I can not flip the pages efficiently because of it. Amazon please help get this corrected. I have faith you will. Thank you.
