As a long time management scholar (34 years in academia) I have to say that this is one of the best books on management I have ever read. A great deal of nonsense and hype has been written about organizational leadership. But Doerr gets right to the core issue--given that you have useful ideas, how do you actually get them implemented? He goes into enormous detail about the use of the OKR's (Objectives and Key Results) which he introduced to Google. He gives numerous examples of how they should be used to achieve success. Many case studies are described but the key point is that Doerr is not a one, narrow technique (hey, goals are good) guru. Rather he induces a set of principles that should be followed in the use of OKR's if success is to be attained. He first learned of this method at Intel and then shared his idea with more than 50 companies. He has worked both as an executive and a venture capitalist. He is firmly tied to the real world of business. If you want to know how to lead successfully, this should be your starting point.

A great introduction to the origins of OKRs, followed by many examples of how companies and a nonprofit used OKRs to improve organizational effectiveness.For some weird reasons, I did not enjoy reading the examples very much. Probably because of a mismatch between the book title and my expectations.I was expecting more of a guide to defining great OKRs within an organization - more of a handbook or practical best practices kind of resource. Such as, how do you define KRs for a software development product? How do you balance between top-down and bottom-up ideas in the OKRs definition process? Etc.In the end, I felt that some of the examples, especially the OKRs in some of the examples, were lacking in terms of practical details. They were more like stories to demonstrate the versatility of OKRs. And some of the KRs did not seem very measurable to me.The resources at the end was useful.Overall, I felt that the book could have been more concise, and the resources at the end could be elaborated more.

This one actively teaches you how to mimic their organizational brilliance. The book distinguishes itself by providing clear examples of how OKRs help organizations achieve their full potential. Primary source documents, including internal memos, show how Intel CEO Andy Grove used OKRs to rapidly respond to competitive threats.As an admirer of Google, I enjoyed learning how OKRs were used at key points in its history. When Google employed 25 people, CEO Larry Page set OKRs for every engineer. When Chrome sought to disrupt the browser market, OKRs enhanced the product team’s creativity. When YouTube sought to establish its own identity within Google, OKRs helped the team set appropriate business goals. It’s really nice that specific OKRs from Google’s history are included in the book.Some people mistakenly believe that OKRs only work for Google, and the book provides clear examples of how OKRs were successfully implemented by startups, large corporations, and non-profit organizations. Entrepreneurs will enjoy learning how fitness, education, healthcare, and food delivery startups used OKRs to find new markets and manage their expanding headcount. Fans of corporate transformations will enjoy learning how OKRs led to human resources and technology process overhauls at some of the world's largest companies. Non-profit leaders will enjoy learning how the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Bono used OKRs to impact millions.All in all, I found the chapters to be short yet impactful, and arranged in a logical sequence. I particularly liked that as the book progresses, it provides clear examples of how to overcome the nuances of implementing OKRs. I felt my OKR-setting muscles getting stronger by the end of the book.

I had read a lot of reviews about this book, and nudity was mentioned quite a bit. If you have ever been to a life drawing class you would have seen some of these views of nude bodies. I can see why some folks were surprised by the poses, but when you sit in a circle around a live model at class you don't get to pick your view, and sometimes you end up drawing some interesting parts in strange perspectives. I really needed a reference book for drawing bodies for manga characters, so this was exactly what I was looking for. The detail really helps me alot.

I have eleven How to Draw Manga books, and have been using them to guide my illustration techniques and general knowledge. I set out looking to draw people, specifically female characters, for the purpose of creating product renderings specific to military, LEO, and combat attire. After checking into several figure drawing books and disliking nearly all of them I finally decided to give this book a try. Here is what I found:The How to Draw Manga series won't tell you how to draw. You have to find your own way to use the information in these books and without a specific goal and a lot of practice you're not going to get your money's worth. This book in particular contains a lot of fleshed-out images of people in a variety of positions along with "wireframe" illustrations. These "wireframes" (my term, not the book's) break down the anatomical parts into basic shapes, then positions them according to the fully fleshed-out image next to them. This allows you to practice by drawing the wireframes and adding detail from there. The fleshed-out imagery consist of naked females and guys in underwear, which is weird for an anatomy book because I would have expected everyone to be naked. However, nudity is limited to butts and nipples, as it is assumed you actually will use these on your characters and won't be needing explanations of how to draw genitalia.I basically went through this whole book and replicated all the wireframes, which built up my ability to draw a proportionally accurate figure with no detail. I then moved to More How to Draw Manga 4: Mastering Bishoujo Characters (go to that product for my review of it) and found that I was able to jump right into working on final character drawings. I'll come back to this book in the future for reference and to practice drawing nude/semi-nude figures with an emphasis on bone and muscle contours.In all I like this book and am very happy I found a use for it. Some people don't like it because it's not "how to draw, but with a good approach you can find the best way to apply this book to your drawing skills. Some people are also unhappy about the nudity, but frankly I'd be shocked if it didn't have any nudity. In all it is definitely a top-notch resource for learning to draw the human form.

The book offers a lot of reference drawings, but fails to actually offer any sort of guidance for beginners. I would not recommend this to beginners who are looking to learn anatomy, but rather those who already know anatomy basics and need an extra source of reference material. Personally, I would recommend "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth" by Andrew Loomis if you're just getting into drawing the human figure - manga/anime style or not.

I like the detailed instructions and the various styles shown. This has explanations of how anatomy would work, making it very easy to create characters and scenes based on realistic movement that is believable. Great for aspiring manga artists.

This book explains the way muscles and body parts correspond to one another in actions and poses very well. Short tidbits give insight on overlooked details such as when the outlines of bones are revealed or hidden, or the small webbing between fingers, and much more.There is some nudity but that is all part of art and helps give you a better understanding. I recommend reading this and not just looking at it for the pictures.

I feel that I'm a decent manga artist, but unfortunely I am unable to link to my artwork as a demonstration due to guidelines. I have 3 other books which are How to Draw manga for Male Characters, Female Characters, and Bishoujo Around the World. I was impress with all three of them, but with Bodies and Anatomy I was extremely disappointed.First of all, other than a very few anime pictures, it does not even feel like an manga book at all. Like what someone else mentioned, it doesn't even have manga proportions. The book might as well not have manga in the title and I still wouldn't be able to tell that this was a manga book.I was completely fooled by the cover of the book. The drawings inside do not even match the quality of the cover. The bodies on the cover are manga, the bodies within the book are not! Previous How to Draw Manga books had similarities with the cover and the content inside. At the end of the book, there is also no individual drawings from various artist.The written information provided with the drawings are subpar when compared to the other 3 Manga books that I've mentioned earlier. Sometimes it goes into useless details and other times, it there isn't enough description. For example, it throws a few pictures of the ear and then the nose, but never says a single word about it. I would have liked for it to at least mentioned how it compare and contrast from human to anime form. Again, the other manga books mentioned the difference and similarities.Also I have to question the source of the book as well. Almost every other How to Draw Manga book has a japanese author, but this one does not. It's source is 'The Society for the Study of Manga Techniques'. I can only guess that its origin is nonjapanese and it shows just like every other nonjapanese How to Draw Anime type book out there. Something is wrong if an amateur artist like myself can draw equal or better than what is provided in the book.I would have returned the book the same day I received it if it weren't for the fact that the shipping to return it is almost half the cost of the book. In the end, I feel very cheated and do not want others to be fooled in the same way. An unforunate lesson I learn from this is that you can't judge a book by its cover.

Very simple to follow notation and tabs for the whistle. I've purchased the entire set of books. Highly recommended for beginners or for teachers with students of all ages. A good variety of songs, easy to see and read finger charts ar included. There are onky a few with alternate notes than I recall. It is a great little book. It does need help staying open.

This was a replacement of one of my most cherished Food Processor cookbooks. I was thrilled to find one used. The condition was good enough for what I paid and for my purposes. It is my MOST favorite cookbooks. IF, I find my original , I will pass this to my Grand-daughter it is easy to follow and has a lot of basic cooking recipes. Potato pancakes (Latkes) are to die for. I was thrilled to find it here.

I have had this cookbook a long time, and it is my go-to cookbook for everything. I have made so many things from this book, and each one is as good or better than the last. The Heavenly Chicken, Favoite Tuna Casserole, Scalloped Potatoes are my most requested foods people want me to bring. The Matzah Ball reciped and briskets recipes also are wonderful. Truly a worthy investment.

Out of a collection of more than 400 cookbooks, Pleasures of Your Processor is my absolute #1 favorite. Flick through this book that always rests on my kitchen counter and you will easily be able to pick out some of my favorite recipes by the condition of the pages - well worn and splattered. Norene's recipes are well-written, easy to follow and always work. Just a few of our family favorites are Super Roast Brisket, Potato Kugel Meat Loaf, Carrot Latkas, Easy Cottage Cheese Pie, Pecan Jam Squares, and the all-time family favorite Blueberry Crumble Cake. Pleasures of Your Processor will make you feel as if you have your very own Jewish mother in the kitchen with you (whether or not you are Jewish) sharing all her secrets of a good cook and helping you put a delicious meal on the table. The hints, tips and techniques alone are worth the price of the book. One of things I like best about the book, is that Norene's recipe instructions always includes a "Yield" amount and lets you know if the recipes may be successfully frozen. Do order this book. Your family and friends will thank you. One warning, be prepared and start practicing how to graciously accept compliments - you will be receiving lots of them when you prepare Norene's recipes.

This is an excellent cookbook regardless of your ethnic background! I have gathered many cookbooks over the years and this is one of the best I've purchased. If you don't own a food processor, go out and buy one and then buy this book! I just recently purchased this book based on others reviews here, and as far as I'm concerned ALL cookbooks should be published this way (plastic coated, folds to make it's own stand, three ring bound with tabbed indexes, and two plastic "spatter shields" for the pages you are opened to). I have only made three things so far from this book: Best Coffee Cake, Chili, and Orange Corn Bread. My family and friends gave me kudos on all three. I even have adapted some of my friends older recipes to prepare them in the food processor. Just find something similar in the book, and use the techniques and order of preperation described. I can't wait to try out some of the over 697 recipes that remain. Thank you Norene, and I hope you took out a patent on that book style!

I have used the pleasures of your food processor since I married 15 years ago. IT has been my best friend in the kitchen, always providing me with new and different cooking ideas, along with teaching me about the processor. I wouldn't be without it!. I am now buying it for my cousin who bought for the first time a processor( at age 50) and has no idea what to do with it! I have bought thru the years 2 books for myself as they seem to wear out and become illegible. Our favorites are, banana chocolate chip drops( kids go wild over these), easy brocolli cheese pie, scalloped potatoes(friday nite just wouldn't be the same without these) and so many more. A MUST FOR EVERY KITCHEN! Enjoy. P.S. You don't have to be Jewish to use and love this!

This book is a must-read for anyone working on infectious disease pandemics. But it is also an important read for activists who are beginning to understand the workings of complex adaptive systems. The author does a wonderful job of gathering information from the many fronts on which activists, scientists, docs, government regulators, and the infected frantically worked in the United States to stem the rising tide of death from AIDS.From the point at which the sentinal systems were picking up the emergence of this new disease, to the race against the clock for treatments and scientific understanding, the book covers the many policy and practical arenas in which people fought for themselves and their loved ones to beat death from this virulent, frightening infectious agent. It talks about scientific authority and de-mystifies the scientific enterprise while wondering whether this reduces the authority of science...but does not propose a solution to this dilemma. A terrific ethnography for students and for social activists of a time of great emergency, it is sure to stimulate much discussion. Sincere, careful, respectful of all players in this drama, the book teaches us about the social interactions required to handle such horrible emergencies.Someone needs to look the same way at the AIDS syndemic in Africa. It is too bad that the folks who were looking at healthcare reform did not have this author's insightful study to help them get us ready for the next pandemic. Because, have no doubt, there WILL be one.
